Medium-to-heavy products require the packaging base to carry a lot of weight. In our premier Color Boxes product line, the packaging bases in the Bottom Box category (also known as Lock Bottom Boxes, Snap Lock Bottoms or Crash Lock Bottom Cartons) are the best packaging solution which combines maximum weight carrying capability with cost-effective packaging.

Our lock bottom folding cartons are engineered with an interlocking, self-locking flap matrix at the bottom of the carton which does not require tape, glue or staples to hold in place. These boxes are designed to fold and pack flat to reduce cost of shipping, and then open and close in seconds on your fulfillment line. As a direct-to-brand industrial packaging factory, we design and supply lock bottom boxes that are customized to your needs, made of heavy duty cardboard, and are designed to hold weight while presenting your brand and products in the best possible way at retail.

Structural Varieties & Heavy-Duty Base Engineering

The die-cut scoring lines on our boxes are calculated with great precision to allow the bottom flaps to interlock and then be held in place by gravity. We offer three variations to suit your production line: for use on manual or slow speed automated production lines.

Snap Lock Bottom (1-2-3 Bottom Boxes): The very cost efficient 3-step snaplock boxes are made of interlocking flaps that are pushed one after another in a strict sequence to form a solid bottom. A very cost efficient solution for boutiques, for cosmetics and items packaged in medium-weight jars, as well as for specialty gifts.

Auto-Lock Bottom (Crash Lock Base): The final bow to manual speed of fulfillment. The bottom panel of the box is pre-glued from the factory on two key points of pressure. When you press the sides of the box the bottom automatically ‘crash locks’ in place immediately. This greatly increases the speed of manual packaging to up to 60% off.

Tuck Top Lock Bottom (TTLB): Tuck flap at the top of the bag is designed for easy opening and closing. The bottom of the bag features a heavy-duty reinforced lock structure to prevent heavy items from accidentally dropping through.

Premium Materials Optimized for Burst Resistance

The bottom flaps must resist bending, tearing and unlocking under stress. To achieve this, we enforce very strict fiber-density standards for all cardstock that we offer.

High-Density SBS White Cardboard (C1S / C2S): Available in weights from 300gsm up to 450gsm. High-end solid bleached sulfate paperboard with crisp fold lines that do not ‘snap’ at the creases. The ultra-bright coating ensures that all printed colors reproduce with maximum accuracy, particularly Pantone colors.

Reinforced Kraft Paperboard (Natural & Clay-Coated): This type of packaging is well suited for organic foods, for use with industrial hardware or for natural grooming products. The natural fibers of Kraft provide the greatest tensile and burst strength of any fiber and allow the lock bottom to handle significant physical weight.

FBB Grey Back Duplex Board (FBB): A strong cost effective board to produce large volume of consumer products, excellent outer print with very solid inner structure.

Advanced Printing & Tactile Surface Craftsmanship

We use heavy-duty multi-color Heidelberg offset printing systems. The ultimate marriage of tough engineering and super high-end luxury cosmetics-grade printing finishes.

Drip-Off / Reverse Matte Varnishing: This varnish is applied in a dual coat application and is designed to create a sophisticated rough matt ground which allows specific elements such as logos or text to be reversed out to a high gloss glass like finish.

Precision Hot Foil Stamping: Outline the structural features of your geometric box in stunning, metallic Gold, Rose Gold, Silver or even multi-dimensional Laser Holographic foil.

3D Spot UV & Embossing: A multisensory experience. Provide your Branding Elements with tactile depth. Printed textures are raised with glossy Spot Varnishes and pressed into the paper with precision steel-die Embossing.

Custom Die-Cut Windows: This feature includes clear PET/PVC film inserts in the front of the custom made plastic display case. This allows customers to view your product from outside of the display and still hold adequate structural weight on the base of the case.
